Robert E. Green is the Art Teacher at Sylvan Park. His passion and enthusiasm for artistic endeavors is apparent from the moment you step into his classroom. He greets every child (and parent!) warmly upon their arrival to his classroom, and he is very patient and accommodating of the many demands of teaching. A Nashville native, Mr. Green pursued a career in Art through Vanderbilt University, where he earned a Studio Art Degree in 1980. After several years of freelance work, including custom furniture design and construction, drawing and printmaking commissions, and owning a sign company specializing in sand-blasted and glass signs, he decided to pursue a career teaching art to children. He received his teaching certification through Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in 1988. He has been teaching art since 1992, working with several Tennessee schools. He has worked at Sylvan Park since 2003, although he has worked with Mrs. Cheadle for over a decade!
Mr. Green is married with five children. While he enjoys all exploring all types of art and artists in his classroom, he personally enjoys hand-built clay works and drawing. He lives with his family in a tree house that he built entirely by himself!
