Meet the new principal of West End Middle!

Upcoming Event:
Meet Dr. Young on Thursday, July 13

Our West End families and community members are cordially invited to come meet our new principal, Dr. Russell Young on Thursday, July 13 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of West End Middle Prep. (Please note that many of you likely received a letter from Dr. Joseph at MNPS Central Office in the mail today that had a misprint on the time and date of our event. Please be assured that the time and date stated above, Thursday, July 13 at 6 p.m., is the correct event information. (MNPS has apologized for the misprint and any confusion it has caused.)

Dr. Young was most recently at Hunters Lane High School as the assistant principal for the Academy of Health and Human Services and the Academy of International Baccalaureate. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.  He began his career in education in Massachusetts as a science teacher for middle school and high school students.

We know that you all will do your best to make him and his family feel welcome and to show them that we are #BetterTogether. Please note that if you are out of town or unable to attend this Thursday, never fear, you will have plenty of opportunities to meet him closer to the start of school. In the meantime, go follow him on Twitter at @DrRJYoung

P.S. Did you know that the best way to stay up to date on all of West End back to school news and updates is to follow the West End PTSO page on Facebook? Ours is a public page, so even if you are not a Facebook user, you can still access all the information and updates. We have recently posted school supply lists, summer reading reminders and lots of information for incoming 5th grade families. Also, you can contact us via Facebook or comment on one of our posts to get all those back-to-school questions answered. We are about to post a great video of Dr. Young! Please go check it out today so you don't miss out!

See you Thursday, July 13 at 6 p.m. in the WEMS auditorium!
