We know, we know, this is the 500th post about donating to the Fun Run. But this is it – the final countdown! For those of you who donated already, thank you! For those of you who donated a second time, thank you! For those of you who reached out to family and friends, thank you! And if you haven’t, now’s the time!  From the hardship fund to learning experiences to getting teachers the things they need to creating an environment where our students do their best work – this funding makes all the difference. We sure do love our community and appreciate anything you can do.  Every dollar counts! Go Panthers!

Let’s finish our Fun Run Campaign strong – we’ve only got a little over one week to go! Among other things, your dollars will assist other Panthers through our hardship fund, so let’s help each other out! Individual donations last week ranged from $5 to $1000 and every one of your donations helps contribute to our community.  If you haven’t donated yet, click here.  EVERY. MATTERS.  We’re already getting excited about some experiences we can bring to our Sylvan park Panthers and if you have ideas on educational opportunities we could bring to Sylvan Park, please email pto.spark.fundraising@gmail.com

Please meet at the front of the school at 7:45a.m. next Wednesday, October 5 for light refreshments!

• Walkers follow normal drop off
• Car riders are encouraged to park a few blocks away and walk in the front entrance
• Bus riders will be dropped off around the corner and walked in by Coach Scott

If you’d like to cheer on your student at the Fun Run on Thursday, October 6th, please sign in at the back playground. Have some extra time to help with set up, clean up, handing out popsicles, or cheering on kids for another grade?  Email pto.spark.fundraising@gmail.com for the time that you’d be willing to help volunteer! Students will run during their related arts times listed below:

K: 12:30-1:30

1st: 10:00-11:00

2nd: 11:00-12:00

3rd: 9:00-10:00

4th: 1:45-2:45

5th: 1:45-2:45

We wrapped up our first school-wide seminar last week.  In this seminar, classes read the story, The Me I Choose to Be by Natasha Anastasia Tarpley and discussed the ideas and values of identity, empowerment, and self-worth.  Students answered the question “Who do you choose to be?” for the post seminar activity.  Ask your child about this exciting and engaging learning experience.

It’s back! Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 24, 2022, for the return of James Bowling’s Brass Band Bazaar in the heart of Sylvan Park. This FREE neighborhood festival recalls the founding of Sylvan Park, circa 1900, when a brass band and cannon fire heralded the establishment of what was then Nashville’s newest neighborhood. The event is named in honor of Sylvan Park’s original founder, James Bowling. 

Come and join us from 10a.m.-5p.m. at 45th Ave. and Murphy Rd. for music, food, local artisans, and fun for the whole family. More info: brassbandbazaar.com

Thank you to all who joined us at PTO in the Park last Thursday! It was great to see so many Sylvan Park families out together on a nice evening!

We are over halfway to reaching our goal with 2.5 weeks left to donate! There are only two popsicle party weeks left to win your child’s classroom a party. Your Fun Run donations will be used to create a student hardship fund, ensuring that all Panthers have access to shopping at the book fair, field trips, and uniforms. Funds will also go to the purchase of a color printer and will bring unique arts experiences and assemblies to our school. Click here to donate today! Thanks to all the parents who donated items for last week’s Stock the Lounge event! We are always excited to show our appreciation to our amazing staff and we couldn’t do it without our amazing families!

Hopefully last week’s Special Edition Newsletter provided a lot of great information on the Fun Run, our goal, and sponsorship opportunities.  Big thanks to those who have donated so far! Kindergarten is leading all the other grades and hopefully you’re hearing from your student if they won a popsicle party last week! There are still 3 weeks to win before the run!

Starting next week we’ll be more focused on working towards our classroom goals.  The goal for most grades is $8,000.  Winners last week were based on sheer volume, so it’s working together as a community with both large and smaller donations that’s truly making a difference. We just ask that you do what you can and know that we appreciate ALL of you! 

If you have any questions about the campaign or the Fun Run itself, we’ll be at the PTO in the Park event on the 15^th, so look for us and we’re happy to answer whatever questions you have!

We’ve done the math! To make our $60,000 goal, every family would need to give $150 per child in attendance. Not all our families can make this gift, so please give more if you can. In the end, gifts of all sizes make a difference for our students, our teachers and our school!
