Young Rembrandts
The Young Rembrandts program provides the tools needed to succeed at drawing - a teaching tool from which the majority of learners prefer and ALL learners benefit! Our program works because it’s not only hands-on and visual...it’s simply fun. We take kids from thinking they’re not "artists" to knowing they can achieve this, and everything else, they put their minds to. Young Rembrandts will have 2 classes: one in the library and one in the art room at 3 pm.

Marathon Kids-Outdoor track
Marathon Kids is an after-school running club that occurs once a week February-April. Marathon Kids challenges students to complete the equivalent of a marathon over the course of 8 or 9 participation days. This club is open to all grades and abilities however the main objective is to RUN! Please be sure your child understands this and wants to participate before registering. He/she will need running shoes and a water bottle for every session. We run OUTSIDE so students must dress according to the temperature outside.

Spots are limited to 40 students per club day: Wednesday OR Friday from 3-4. Students MUST be picked up by 4 (or have appropriate aftercare PNA/McCabe). If any participating student gets three strikes for behavior, they may be asked to leave the club.

Registration will take place in-person before school on Thursday, December 12 and Friday, December 13 between 7:40 am-8:10 am ONLY in front of the school. We are only able to accept registration on those days. To register: Print out and complete a registration form, or fill one out at the registration table and and bring your $25 registration fee. New Location! - Neighborhood Tree Lighting

Sylvan Park Neighborhood Association will hold its first-ever holiday tree lighting ceremony on Tuesday, December 10 at 6 p.m. will now take place at the corner of 44th Avenue and Murphy Rd. near Billy's Corner. West End band students will launch the event playing holiday songs and Sylvan Park students will close the ceremony leading us in carols. This will be an opportunity for neighbors across Sylvan Park to get together to celebrate and to begin what will hopefully become a new holiday tradition. If your child is interested in singing with a group of Sylvan Park students, please meet at 5:50 to run through the songs at Billy's Corner. We will sing Jingle Bells, Rudolph, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Participation is open to all ages. Dress warmly and the tree lighting will go on rain, snow or shine.
