Coming in February…

Friendly school-wide competition for Box Tops!

The classroom contest will be Monday, February 3 through Friday February 21, 2020.We are competing with Eakin Elementary and West End Middle schools to see which school can collect the most this year! Please ask your neighbors, family and friends to start saving Box Tops for you today! Please DO NOT bring in Box Tops before February. General Mills pays us 10 cents per Box Top. Our school goal this year is $1,000! Every Box Top counts!

How to participate:
Box Tops are located on many name brand product packaging such as General Mills cereals, Lysol cleaner, Hefty trash bags, and MANY more. Cut out and collect as many Box Tops as possible at home or from friends, family and neighbors. Put your Box Tops in an old envelope, bag or rubber band. Bring Box Tops to school in February and place in your classroom’s Ziplock Box Top bag!

Helpful hints:
Please count the number of box tops and write the total number of tops on the outside of the envelope/bag- this saves volunteer counters time!
* Make sure NOT to cut off the expiration date.
* Please check box tops before turning them in and make sure they are not expired.  The earliest date of eligible Box Tops is 3/1/2020. We cannot get any money for our school with expired tops.

REMEMBER: Box Tops are transitioning to be  digital and you can now scan your receipt using a mobile app. They are fading out of cut off Box Tops. Note to our seasoned collectors, do not be frustrated with lower numbers available.

Download Apple app here. Download Google play app here. For a list of all eligible products, click here.

Valentine’s Social Feb. 7

We will have our annual Valentine’s social on Feb. 7. We will send a flyer home for tickets for the social and candy gram/carnation sales in advance in folders the week before the event.  We will be selling candy grams and carnations from students to their classmates and teachers and delivered on 2/14. All of the proceeds go to the teachers to use in their classrooms. **Girl Scout cookie sales will be CASH only at the Valentine’s Social.

This social is primarily run by teachers but we do need some parents to help with setup, cleanup and miscellaneous jobs. Please sign up here: Valentine’s Social 2020.

2019 Sylvan Park Fun Run fundraiser update

We were thrilled to raise $55,113! This is substantially more than amounts raised through INVEST campaigns in previous years. Based on teacher input, this money was used to update and increase classroom technology. These purchases have been made yet MNPS must format them. We are hopeful we will have them in classrooms by March.

Fun Run Purchases:
5 sets of 23 laptops (one set per grade)
5 computer carts (one per grade)
15 Ipads (some EE, RA)
15 Ipad covers
15 Ipad earbuds
Headphones for 23 computers on 3 carts (3rd and 4th use their own)
6 laptops (EE)
Intervention Curriculum: Hands on Equations (Math) X2

This totals around $50,000.
Our treasurers are working hard to come up with a technology plan for maintaining up-to-date classroom technology over time. We hope to begin budgeting annually for technology updates so as not to have to repeatedly dedicate the majority of our Fun Run funds to this purpose.

Thank you for investing in our school!
