By now you should have received an email from your room parent requesting that you send in a note of appreciation for our teachers.
Each grade level was assigned a theme. These notes are due no later than Wednesday afternoon. These notes should be to all teachers at Sylvan Park, not just your homeroom teacher. If you would like to email your note instead or have any questions please email Theresa Yarber at tsyarber@gmail.com. Be sure to include your theme word if you send a note.
We were able to “Espresso” Our Thanks to our teachers on Friday by bringing in Java Breeze to make coffees and smoothies! We were also able to stock the lounge with bagels, spreads, biscotti and lots of other snacks!
The Sylvan Park’s 2023/24 INVEST Campaign Target = $120,000
We can’t meet this goal without our whole community. We’ve got a bold goal this year but we’re confident we can reach it with your support!
For the past several years Sylvan Park has benefited from a much-needed instructional interventionist, which provides crucial support for students who are not at grade level. This position was previously supported by federal COVID relief funds that will end soon. If we do not fund this position ourselves, we will lose it and the benefit it brings to Every Single Child at our school.
In addition to the funding the interventionist position, INVEST Campaign funds will be used to continue to provide for community events, teacher / classroom needs, our hardship fund and more.
Come join us at Richland Park after school on Thursday September 14th. Pickup a Pizza dinner from Hometown Pizza, and meet the members of the Sylvan Park PTO while your kids enjoy their classmates, playground, and open spaces of Richland Park.
Hometeam Pizza will generously donate a portion of every purchase to support the Sylvan Park PTO.

We do one large fundraiser a year and the time is now!
As we dream big to support our vital school positions, create hardship funds, drive innovative learning experiences and fund teacher ideas to improve the way in which we teach and serve our students, we need your help.
Do you own a business or know someone who does?
We’re looking for sponsors, at a variety of different levels. If you own a business or know someone who does, we’d love to hear from you!
Thank you to everyone who donated to Stock the Lounge this month! We were able to show our faculty some love with “You’re Awesome to the Core” themed snacks, treats and drinks!
There is still time to donate to September’s stock the Lounge. If you’d like to do so, you can sign up here:

Are you looking for a rewarding way to be involved at Sylvan Park?
The PTO needs a Home Room Parent (HRP) for each classroom. HRPs are a tradition at Sylvan Park! This role serves as a liaison between teachers, parents, and the PTO board.
Please consider volunteering for this most rewarding role for your child’s classroom this year.

While school supply shopping is on the brain (& tax-free!) this weekend, please consider supporting our wonderful Art teacher, Ms. Williams, by visiting her Amazon wish list and sponsoring an item or two.
Help us stock up the Art Room and promote kindness! Students earn kindness points for their class by showing kindness to themselves, each other, the teacher, materials, and the art room. When they fill up their kindness chart, they earn a free art day where I put out a lot of fun activities and supplies for them to use!
All Metro Nashville Public Schools students will receive no-cost meals during the 2023-2024 school year thanks to the support of the MNPS Board of Education and the federal Community Eligibility Provision program.
And, while student meals are no cost, families who may quality for free and reduced meals, and whose students are not attending a CEP school are encouraged to submit a Meal Benefits Application because qualification helps connect families to things such as:
discounts for fees associated with college applications
scholarships and fee discounts for SAT, ACT and AP tests
greater federal reimbursement to provide for program improvement
